When in university classrooms ask students some practice or research work, his first action is to go to the Internet, even before considering any another source. How far is correct and healthy as usual?
Earlier, in schools, colleges and universities, the arrival of tests and assignments, all ran to interview people or to libraries and bookstores looking for books, documents and materials to meet assigned.
With Internet search has been simplified to the point of reducing to a minimum effort: just enter the network and "google" does everything else or you access the page or institution and ready character.
True, the Internet is effective means to communicate and convey information, something like a huge double cab van, you can lead to several places at once, or convey what you produce.
But if you do not produce anything or know where to go, the Internet will do any bus that you take without paying attention: you take any part, even that did not want to go or will not get you anywhere.
The Internet as a source
Before children took their bags, left their parents and went to see the world. Now, to travel the world, simply put the children to their rooms and provided with a plate of junk food, connect to your computer.
"If it is possible to do so in a comfortable and easy, and do even better, so why complicate methods dealing with cumbersome and outdated, "say our children and students.
Given this argument, the teachers respond, generally respecting the development of science and technology, but we must be careful not to rely entirely, at least as far as journalism is concerned, a sole source of information.
The "reporting" modern, online, is very valid and useful, but is often limited and insufficient. The network can never replace the benefits of direct contact with sources of information.
When reported, once in the "scene" you must look carefully at the subjects and objects carrying the news, carefully observe, smell and, if possible, be felt.
If you attend to trace the story from-only-what it says Internet, you will usually receive information (data and facts) of second and even third-hand.
Until now, the Internet is not able to show all sides of an accident, transmitirte the smell of smoke and gunpowder may not clearly hear the screams of the victims and also to see you lose the big picture of what happened .
As a journalist, you need to get where he is the news for once there, observe, analyze it, touch it and get it at an angle as close as possible to the truth "real" they expect from you the readers, or those who turn on the radio or TV.
course, with a few clicks and you have what it agreed to the President Laura Chinchilla and his ministers at the Governing Council on Wednesday, but comfortable sitting there in front of the computer, nobody will know physically or recognized as the reporter of this or that way.
Now as a student and later as a journalist, you need to go to the "theater of events" and adhere to the news live, with the full force of your senses. Moreover, it must, at some point, the subject of the story you know and can establish valuable new contacts, not only with the President and his ministers, also with secretaries, advisers, other journalists and anyone else who may be a useful source of information.
So, with that couple of mouse clicks and presto: the Internet is there, as a loving mother or as efficient waiter, serving up on a plate you need, whether text, photos, graphics, maps, infographics and illustrations.
But look before you fall into that comfortable activity, or trap, the same is very efficient system may also be consulted by your competition, on the street and that's when you need something unique, different and exclusive, way of added value. What are you doing? The same as the others?
Care with web
The Internet gives the impression of offering everything and know everything, but that's not entirely correct because it is still beyond human reach to reproduce reality in all its many details.
Internet itself is a source very effective and timely documentary, rich in history, which should always be consulted before resorting to other sources of information. Why? To say the same thing, not to ask the same questions that others asked.
But we must not blindly believe the innocence of what the Internet tells us, by the mere fact that it is she who says it. If you browse with care and pay attention to what you want, anywhere you'll notice that there are frequent mistakes, inaccuracies, verbatim copies of others and to circulate on which all sorts of gossip and rumors nonsense.
Like with everything in this world: the Internet is influenced by human relativism, a trend that tells us something is true until something else comes and denies or replaced or that things are what they are, as compared with others.
When searching the web, we must always take into account the existence of different versions, some more updated than others, for a given subject, story or situation.
¿Qué think of his voice that is heard personally and not through the television? Do you like listening to the TV? Is it bright, warm, friendly tone or off?
Internet is useful for a first contact with the character, gives you a kind of "preview" with appropriate as background information essential for the interview, but never replace the personal interview or direct.
We must admit, virtual reality is just a bad copy of the real reality and report to just stick to Internet, is like a bad copy of that copy.
What does offer us, among many other options, the site is the focus or other views that gave the news or information we seek.
This material will serve as a starting point to test an approach, with the arguments that others give you, as we take a photo, another photo that got "in place" in broad daylight.
But as with copies of any document, photo of a photo never surpass the original ... and maybe even the match.
