Yes. This time I decided to get out a little about the subject of books and discuss a series of anime (Japanese animation for those who do not know) (I'll geek ...)
Why? I have several arguments.
First, it is something that I warned would happen, this is a blog which talks about books, but will occasionally different topics, such as series, news, movies, religion or politics.
Secondly, I chose an anime series because, although they have not seen before is not going to believe, are very much more a book than a movie:
In a movie, even with unlimited resources, you have two hours to present, develop and complete a full story, in a book, it is unlimited, and can deepen and give sense to the plot. That is why every time you make a film of a book, this is much worse.
When it comes to series, this problem does not exist: the shortest not lower than 13 chapters (about 20 minutes per section, 240 minutes, which is 4 hours), while the longest pass of the 400. This allows them to develop a deep history, several sub-plots and original characters and defined.
Are there bad? Yes, and usually are those that come to our ears: Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball ... But despite being animated, are not always aimed at young children: Like the books, no mystery, love, terror, war, politics, religion ... What happens is that only the most children are arriving in the European media.
My third reason, and most important, is that this series touched me as few books have done. I went into his story, and made me laugh, mourn, to feel fear and tenderness with the characters. When finished, I felt the void left by typical good books when you finish the last page, this bittersweet aftertaste. In the next week, I could get her out of her head, and the same happened to all the people who recommended it.
For this and the above reasons (and because I feel like it), and without further introduction:
Violence. That is the word that comes to mind first, probably because it begins the series, full of violence and gore. But if you judge a book by its cover, and you still see, it drifts into a story of love, tenderness, passion, remorse, revenge, past and action that goes up and down like a roller coaster.
Violence blood and mutilation becomes progressively physical psychological, and creates a deep, dark environment in which it is difficult not to fall. Elfen Lied
presents diclonius history, a race that differs from humans by two bone-shaped horns on the head, and have a tendency-and power-sadistically killing people. Or at least that's what he thinks the organization is dedicated to finding, taking, experimenting with them and remove them.
The story itself begins with Lucy, a diclonius getting away from the facility, and after an accident and innocent develops a second personality, Nyu. As Nyu meets a boy whose past is Lucy mysteriously joined, repressed in the subconscious of both, in it for a second personality and the trauma it caused him.
And this takes place an overwhelming story of 13 chapters where the darker side of human soul is revealed and breaks off, allowing a contrast between light and darkness, between good and evil that makes the hair stand on end and revives a question remains unchallenged initial: Are you born with evil? Can be bad by nature or is it necessary to learn of humanity?
I will not say more. I teach you the door and you, if you will, of you cross.
